Broke Behaviors

Methodology: This study is based on a survey of 3,005 U.S. respondents, conducted in April 2026 to explore the everyday “broke behaviors” Americans admit to. Participants were asked to select which cost-saving habits they had personally engaged in, across categories including spending, social life, household routines, and health-related compromises. The survey was conducted via an online panel and designed to be nationally representative, with quotas set for age, gender, and region. Responses were weighted where necessary to align with U.S. population benchmarks. Respondents were presented with a list of common behaviors — such as delaying purchases, avoiding fees, or reusing items — and were able to select all that applied. The results were then ranked based on the percentage of respondents who reported each behavior.
